How to charge your crystals?

How do I charge my crystals? And what is the difference between charging & cleansing crystals? Are some of our most asked questions in the shop. A couple of months ago I explained the various different ways you can cleanse your crystals, so today we’re going to go through ways to charge your crystals.

Firstly the difference between cleansing and charging can sometimes be confusing, to put it simply:

Cleansing a crystal removes stagnant energy, this is usually negative energy it may have picked up from others touching it.

Charging a crystal focuses on renewing and amplifying the crystals natural energy.

When you first purchase your crystal I recommend cleansing it & charging it so you’re getting the full potential from your crystal. If you already own your crystal and its used to your energy, its important to charge it regularly, as a general rule once a week plus after each time you’ve used your crystal in a healing session or meditiation.

Now we’re on to how to charge your crystals? These are our most recommended and easiest ways of achieving this:

Sunlight

Place your crystals in direct sunlight for a few hours, the sunlight will energize the crystals.

It is important to note, this is not recommended for all crystals as some can fade in sunlight these include Amethyst, Ametrine, Aquamarine, Celestite, Citrine, Fluorite, Kunzite, Smoky Quartz, Rose Quartz and Turquoise.

Moonlight

Leave your crystals outside under the moonlight in a safe place, ideally during a full moon or new moon, to absorb the moon's energy. This works for all types of crystals, especially those associated with feminine or intuitive energy. (remember to check the weather prior in case it rains, as some crystals are not water safe)

Earth

Bury your crystals in the earth for 24 hours to allow them to reconnect with natural energies. This works for all crystals but it is especially good for those that need deep cleansing and grounding, like hematite or obsidian. (remember to mark where you’ve buried them so you don’t have to dig up your whole garden)

Sound

Use a tuning fork, singing bowl, or bells to create sound vibrations around your crystals, which helps to clear and recharge their energy. This works well for all crystals, especially when working with multiple crystals at once.

Other Crystals

Place your crystals on or near a larger crystal cluster, geode, or selenite slab. These larger stones can naturally recharge other crystals, again this works for any crystal, especially smaller ones or those frequently used.

Which crystals charge other crystals?

Clear quartz is known as a "master healer" and an energy amplifier. It can cleanse and charge other crystals by amplifying their energy.

Selenite has a very high vibrational energy and is excellent for cleansing and charging other crystals. It's often used to remove negative energies and recharge the energy of other stones.

Amethyst has strong cleansing and healing properties. It can purify other crystals and is often used to restore their energy.

Citrine carries the energy of the sun and is known for its cleansing and rejuvenating properties. It can cleanse and recharge other crystals, keeping their energy vibrant.
