Everyone has 7 major chakras located along the centre of the body, from the base of the spine to the top of the head, these are spinning wheels of energy. It is vital that all the chakras are open and balanced to ensure harmony within, allowing the free flow of energy (also known as chi) through the chakras is essential for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
crown – third eye – throat – heart – solar plexus – sacral – root
The knowledge of chakras can be traced back thousands of years, so this definitely is not something new. When looking back through history you can see chakras and healing across many different Eastern cultures, believing that our internal energy flow controls out mind, body and spirit which when balanced will work perfectly. It is believed that it began with ancient Indian spiritual traditions (it could go back much further then this) and you still see today in the Hindu & Buddhist traditions that they work with chakras to ensure they are open & balanced.
each chakra is associated with a colour and most of the crystals that are aligned with a chakra will be of that colour
Every chakra has a colour that is associated with it, these colours are believed to correspond to the energy frequency and qualities of that particular energy centre. The colours associated with each chakra are often used in chakra meditation, visualization, and healing practices to help balance and activate the energy centres. Practitioners may visualize or surround themselves with the corresponding colours, use coloured lights or crystals, or incorporate colour therapy techniques to promote health, vitality, and spiritual well-being.
White/Purple – Indigo – Blue – Green/Pink – Yellow – Orange – Red/Brown/Black
When the chakras are balanced and aligned, we experience harmony, vitality, and a sense of wholeness. However, if the chakras become blocked, stagnant, or imbalanced, it can lead to physical illness, emotional distress, and spiritual disconnect. Don’t worry if you are feeling imbalanced as there are a few different ways in which you can help to restore your chakras, such as yoga, meditation, Reiki, sound therapy, and crystal healing, these can activate the chakras, promoting health, vitality, and spiritual awakening.
meditation – visualise - breathwork
Chakra meditation involves focusing on each chakra individually, visualizing its corresponding colour, and using affirmations or mantras to promote balance and alignment. Begin by sitting comfortably in a quiet space and focusing on your breath. Bring your awareness to the root chakra and visualize a red spinning wheel of energy at the base of your spine. As you inhale, imagine drawing energy up from the earth into the root chakra, and as you exhale, imagine releasing any tension or blockages. Continue this process, moving up through each chakra, from the root to the crown, visualizing the associated colours and qualities.
sound therapy – singing bowls - frequencies
Sound healing techniques, such as using singing bowls, tuning forks, or specific frequencies, can resonate with the vibrational frequencies of the chakras and promote balance and harmony. Listening to music or soundscapes specifically composed for chakra balancing can also help attune to the energy centres and facilitate relaxation and healing.
reiki – healing hands – restore balance
Energy healing modalities, such as Reiki, Pranic Healing, or Quantum Healing, can help clear blockages and restore balance to the chakras. A trained practitioner may use hands-on or hands-off techniques to channel healing energy to the energy centres, promoting relaxation, stress relief, and overall well-being.
crystals – meditation – energy work
Crystals and gemstones are believed to have unique energetic properties that can help balance and activate the chakras. Placing crystals corresponding to each chakra on or near the body during meditation or energy work can facilitate clearing, alignment, and activation. For example, red jasper or garnet can be used for the root chakra, carnelian for the sacral chakra, citrine or yellow calcite for the solar plexus chakra, rose quartz for the heart chakra, blue lace agate for the throat chakra, amethyst for the third eye chakra, and clear quartz for the crown chakra.
I will go more in depth on which crystals are best to use for each chakra in my next blog post as there’s so much information it can become wite overwhelming!
